The third house is courage and effort: younger siblings, short journeys, communication, hobbies, skills with the hands and self-made initiative. It shows how much initiative you take and how well you communicate, write and use technology. Malefic planets often do well here, giving courage and drive.
The twelfth house is letting go: expenses, foreign lands, travel abroad, sleep, retreat, charity and spiritual liberation. It covers expenses, losses and gains abroad, hospitals, sleep, retreats and moksha, the final liberation. Planets here can bring success abroad or in quiet, spiritual pursuits.
